And Then There Were Three

Image
We arrived home to an empty house on Friday night... Rose & Asa are hopefully settled into their new home & the kitties are still at the cattery as one of the owners has been taken ill & so we've been asked to leave them until today - at no extra charge... We have had a wonderful holiday, lots of fun & time relaxing & probably soon we're going to bore you all stupid with our photos & thoughts on the places we've visited! We'd forgotten just how beautiful Wales is & even though the weather wasn't great - we've still enjoyed every minute! Bye for now, Kay & Sime xx

Wind, Rain & Power Cuts

Hello! We are having gale force winds, torrential rain & we had a power cut last night... We've lost our internet access on the farm too... It's still wonderful though & we're loving the extreme weather! 1085 metres up in the sky on Snowdon's summit! Bye for now, Kay, Sime & Hugo  xxx

Snowdonia

Hugo managed to get us online...  Our ISP supplies us with mobile WIFI, but it took a bit of working out!  So here's the story so far... It was a really long journey on Friday – nearly 11 hours on the road, but we had decided to drive the length of Wales, instead of taking the motorway & the scenery since arriving in Wales has been spectacular!  We love being in the mountains & our destination certainly hasn’t disappointed. Far from it, it’s a beautiful place & we are having a fantastic time! Going Over The Severn Bridge The Black Mountains Going Through Builth Wells Llyn Clywedog Snowdonia It had been 29 degrees in the car for the main part of our journey, so it was such a relief when we were finally able to get out, explore & potter about. Our peaceful haven amongst the mountains... Which is just perfect... And we are very happy to be here... Our caravan has surpassed our expectations – it’s cosy, in a perfect location & surr...

Shugborough Hall (For Gerry)

Image
We visited Shugborough, ancestral home of the Earls of Lichfield, on our way back from Stoke - 2 weeks ago... Sime had wanted to visit the estate & surrounding area for a long time. His Grandmother, Hilda Rhodes was originally Companion Housekeeper to Lady Anson, Patrick Lichfield's Grandmother from the mid 1950's. She eventually went on to be the Housekeeper for the Earl himself, up until she retired in the late 1970's. Sime spent every Sunday visiting Hilda & her second Husband, Joe - who was Caretaker of the Hall & grounds. He has very many fond memories of his Nan & also of meeting the Earl & his Grandmother. He chose to approach the grounds from the village of Great Haywood, as it was a regular walk that he would take with his Nan & he wanted to see if it remained the same as it was 40 years ago... Amazingly - it was! This little street in Great Haywood remains unchanged... The pedestrian route through the bridge... The canal lock. Moored...
