Kicking Back


We have been desperate for some time out & were so happy when a plan came together at the last minute...

This has been our base for the last few days.
A small apartment in a beautiful old house right in the middle of Bishop's Castle...

Above a fabulous cafe...

Such a quirky place...


With the tiniest of bathroom doorways...

Which Sime keeps banging his head on...

We are so happy to be having some time to ourselves... 
No work, no care giving, no responsibilities, no clock watching. 
Just doing exactly what we want to do, which so far has been perfect!!!

Some of you know about my fight with Graves Disease, an auto immune system disorder, which causes an overactive thyroid. Since I was diagnosed 7 years ago, I have made it my business to know everything I possibly could about the condition & this has probably saved my life. Nettles

Our garden yesterday. Tall Nettles TALL nettles cover up, as they have done These many springs, the rusty harrow, the plough Long worn out, and the roller made of stone: Only the elm butt tops the nettles now. This corner of the farmyard I like most: As well as any bloom upon a flower I like the dust on the nettles, never lost Except to prove the sweetness of a shower. ~ Edward Thomas ~ Every time we venture out to pick nettles, Sime always goes on about this poem! Getting Back To basics

We've had another very busy week, but we are very happy to be escaping for a few days. We decided that as it's our Silver Wedding Anniversary on Monday, we should do something a bit different... So we're going to be staying in a yurt on Bodmin Moor! It's going to be wonderful... No computer. No phone. No work. Just time to chill out, enjoy some moorland walks, eat, drink, be merry & have lots of fun!!! See you when we get back. Kay & Sime xx
