The Accidental Garden Safari

Yesterday, we had another easy work day & managed to finish early...
We had to call at the village shop in Gorran Haven & just decided on impulse to go for a walk to make the most of the lovely warm sunshine.
We left the car on the car park & set off...

Gorran Haven Beach is at the bottom of the village.
It's about 2 miles away from where we live...

Surprisingly, there weren't many folks on the beach for a Saturday afternoon.

And such a lovely day...

Church Street.
Looking back down the way we walked...

We haven't been along this path for years, so thought we'd check out the views...

The beach from another angle.

We usually walk the coastal path over the other side of the bay.

Perhaver Beach which is the next one along from Gorran Haven.

This house is always entertaining!

At the top of Cliff Road we intended on taking the coastal path towards Portmellon.
But as we passed a house which was part of the village garden safari afternoon, we discovered the owners were folks we knew & it just so happened that they were serving refreshments in their driveway & called to us to pop in...

The Safari afternoon is a time when some of the village houses open up their gardens to the public.
Usually there is a charge of £5 each, but as we weren't really taking part in the event, we got to sit in their garden with a cup of tea & a bread roll with jam for a donation to charity, so that was nice!

And what a fab garden they have...

With a stunning view...

It was like a mini Heligan...

But with more breathtaking scenery...

And their pond was full of tadpoles...

We left & got on to the coastal path...

And it was deserted...

Looking back towards Gorran Haven.

We enjoyed sitting on a bench & just soaked up the sun & views...

We continued walking until we got hungry & there was a chilly wind.
We turned back & retraced our footsteps...

Heading back down Church Street...

We spotted this unusual display for Cornwall!

Church by the sea.

It was a lovely afternoon...
And we finished the evening off with a pot of peas each from the chippy & a bottle of beer!

We certainly know how to live!!!

Hope you've all had a good weekend.
